|
Cabernet Sauvignon is the specialty at McGrail Vineyards, a family-owned winery that produces small lots of wines. The family uses sustainable methods in tending its vineyards. They first planted a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in 1999, and originally sold all their grapes to another winery, but in 2003 they made a barrel for friends and family. By 2005 they were making 1,000 cases of wine, and decided to launch their own winery; it opened in 2008. The McGrail’s, who describe themselves as “down-to-earth”, make it a point “to take the ‘snobiness’ out of wine tasting.” The winery offers special events throughout the year, as well as vineyard and winery tours by appointment for a fee.
Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot,
Tasting Room: Friday-Sunday, 12:4:30 p.m., and by appointment Tuesday-Thursday.
The hilltop tasting room has beautiful views of the valley. |
