Elliston Vinyards in Sunol |
|
Elliston Vineyards in the town of Sunol has a rich history dating back to the late 1800s. Henry Hiram Ellis, an entrepreneur, San Francisco’s first police chief, and a U.S. diplomat, purchased the land in 1885, and built a 17-room, 3-story, neo-Romanesque stone mansion. In 1890 he planted a 3-acre vineyard. Today the mansion and surrounding lush landscape serve as a beautiful location for weddings and other events, where Elliston Vineyard’s award-winning wines are served.
Wines: Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Claret, sparkling and blended wines.
Tasting Room: Open Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and by appointment.
Guests enjoy complimentary wine tasting inside the historic stone mansion. |
