Cedar Mountain Winery was started by Dr. Earl Ault, a physicist-turned-winemaker and accomplished artist, and his wife Linda Ault, a recognized amateur chef. The Aults purchased 20 acres on Tesla Road in 1988, and by 1990 they launched the winery with the release of an Estate Chardonnay. Since then the winery has gained a reputation for its Gold Medal Cabernet Sauvignons and Ports. The Aults focus on creating wines with grapes grown in the Livermore Valley, and produce about 10,000 cases a year.
Wines: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Port, and blends.
Tasting Room: The Aults sold their property to the Darcie Kent Vineyards in February 2013, and are planning on reopening at a new location on Reuss Road in Fall 2013. Wines are available for sale online, through the wine club, in some wine shops, and at fine restaurants. |
